Our bar use a Sodium Coco Sulfate. Now, before you turn and say..... wait aren't sulfates bad for your hair...... I want to answer that question right now for you. Yes, some sulfates are very harsh on your hair and skin especially for those people who have sensitive skin. But.......... Our Sodium Coco Sulfate is not bad for you.
The Sodium Coco Sulfate that we use first off does not come from palm oil. Ours is derived from coconuts. This provides a longer fatty acid chain, that have larger particle size so it doesn't get into your skin and cause irritation like SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) bars do on sensitive individuals. SLS Bars have incomplete fatty acid chains and are more alkaline, this allows it to strip oils from your hair and scalp and make the shampoo harsh and drying. You need an optimal balance of fats from natural oils in your shampoo so you don't end up with a deficit that causes hair to dry and your scalp to become itchy.
